Breakfast at Merritt House   

Our delicious award winning breakfasts are freshly cooked, using local produce wherever possible. Our sausages and bacon are supplied by a nearby farm shop (who actually make our sausages specially for us), and our free range eggs come from a local Devon farm.

We are delighted to have been awarded the coveted AA Breakfast Award, which the AA describes as indicating 'A very special breakfast, with an emphasis on freshly prepared local ingredients', which is exactly what we aim to provide.

 

 

     

We support the local economy by buying locally as we promote quality, freshness and reducing food miles.

We would be pleased to provide additional breakfasts to any friends or relatives you may be visiting. Please let us know in advance if you would like to take this offer up, which is priced at £8.50 per additional breakfast. A slightly later sitting may be required in high season.

Porridge with honey or brown sugar

Traditional Full English Breakfast
2 local farm pork sausages, 2 rashers of smoked bacon, 2 slices of black pudding, free range egg, beans, mushrooms, tomato and hash browns.

Half English Breakfast
1 local farm pork sausage, 1 rasher of smoked bacon, 1 slice of black pudding, free range egg, beans, mushrooms, tomato and hash brown.

Vegetarian Full/Half English Breakfast (V)
1 or 2 Quorn sausages, 1 or 2 free range eggs, beans, mushrooms, tomato and hash browns.

3-Egg Omelette
plain (V), mushroom (V), tomato (V), ham

 

Lighter Breakfasts

Egg & Kipper Nest
A free range egg, baked in a nest of flaked and lightly creamed Kipper fillets.
Served with sliced brown or white lightly buttered bread.

Light Continental Breakfast (V)
2 freshly baked croissants, brown or white Toast, Devonshire farmhouse butter, selection of honey,
jams, chocolate spread and peanut butter, fresh fruit salad

Creamy Scrambled Eggs & Smoked Salmon
Served on a lightly toasted white English muffin, garnished with chopped chives.

Devonshire Hogg 'n' Hen
2 free range poached eggs, with slices of traditional locally made
Devon Hoggs' Pudding - a lightly spiced pork sausage.
Served on a lightly toasted white English muffin.

Bacon and Egg Breakfast Roll
White or wholemeal roll, filled with a rasher of local smoked back-bacon
and a fried free range egg.
